Saving Water: what can we do?

Most of us are aware that the time to save water has come. We should be concerned and watchful of what is to happen to our water supplies if we don't act now. Our future will be plaqued with droughts, diminishing rivers, water rationing and eventually water wars. Currently, some of those have already come true. Let's take the Colorado River:

"The Colorado River is the largest watershed in the southwestern US, emptying into the Salton Trough before reaching the Sea of Cortez. Over the past 2-3 million years, river sediments built a delta that extends from the US-Mexico border for a distance of 87 miles (140 km). However, today the Colorado River delta is undergoing significant erosion and diminishing in size due to the lack of sediment replenishment from upstream sources."

Now you may ask; What does this mean? It means that our world's water supply is shrinking while population and the need for water has grown exponentially.

Only 1 percent of the Earth's water is available for human use.

This is where we come in. We asked, What can we do? We discovered that changing habits is much harder then changing products. All of us, together as one, need to help save water. Though it may take 20 years for a water campaign to make a difference in people's habits, it only takes one day for your shower to be more efficient, for your toilet to use 1.28 gpf instead of 3.5 gpf thus saving a family of 4 13,000 gallons of water a year and it only takes one decision to make water conservation real, yours. You have the power to make a difference without changing who you are. You have the power to save the Colorado river and Mono Lake and our future.
